hey lyte, i have a tiny question for you

regarding this thread

http://na.leagueoflegends.com/board/....php?t=2357676

I am pretty sure my respond would be just burried in the hundreds of comments, but I have a little question for his case.

I checked all your comments, but I wonder if his negativity was triggered by another player first, or it was him starting the arguements.

if he is the one always started the troubles, then it is very fair for him to be ban
but if it was his teamate who started raging first, then I dont think he deserve to be ban. I have very much terrible lucks with the random queue, and in many instances my teamate would just start by cussing out like:"ur mom is a fking wh ore, suck my di ck....." when they cant get the lane they want. If he is in the same situation, then I dnt think a perma ban is fair.

I strongly believe retaliation is never OK.

Just ignore the player for the game and try your best to be sportsman-like to the rest of your team. If you retaliate, both you and the other player will be punished. The reason for this is simple: you retaliating and arguing with the other player actually makes the game a horrible experience for 3 to 8 other people.

Not specific to all cases, but there are plenty of situations where you end up as a solo with a team of four and are singled out as a result.
You won't be banned for 'refusing to communicate' with toxic players. Not sure why players have this misconception.

4. When should I be voting to Pardon?

Here are some examples of times where reported players should be pardoned.
  • Players who are celebrating, but not intending to be offensive.
  • Players who are playfully quipping at one another.
  • Someone who is reacting to another player’s repeated badgering or insulting behavior.
  • Players who are not responding to other players or do not speak the language, but otherwise aren’t displaying any negative or strange behavior.
  • Players who display poor performance, but do not appear to be intentionally feeding or otherwise disrupting gameplay.
  • Players who cease their negative behaviors and/or apologize when another player informs them that they have taken things too far and asks them to stop.

I honestly cant beleive what im reading right now...
First, that sentence does not state that you should retaliate in a toxic manner.

Second, I'm changing the FAQ to reflect our new directions with the Tribunal. Much of the information on the current FAQ is unfortunately out-dated.

It seems like the only time someone doesn't communicate is when their teammates are attacking them and they ignore them or when they don't speak the same language and in this case neither side would be able to communicate with the other so no one is really at fault. The only times I see someone say report for refusing to communicate is when the guys attacking that one player get muted and are still mad so they try to say he won't communicate when that player has no real reason to. In what situation is it right to report for this?
Right now, it's when teammates are being respectful and polite but 1 player simply refuses to cooperate. If 4 teammates suggest, "Hey, do you mind playing AD?" and the player says, "F--- you guys" or "No, I'm ignoring you idiots." Or in-game when a team is going "Hey let's push!" and a player responds, "F---- off."

In the future, I'm removing reports like Intentional Feeding and Refusing to Communicate. We have way too many report options and too many of them overlap.

Thank you.

I took some time off the game because I was pretty much constantely raging and was starting to be (rightfully I believe) banned about once every 2 months or so. Didn't much like this about myself; and it also was causing me to not enjoy this game at all. But after clearing up a LOT about tribunal over the last 2 days or so and explaining that a player doesnt just get mystery banned in much more depth, I have decided to start playing this game again because of you and your commitment to the player base. I will myself now commit to being a better player, knowing that there is a LOT more going on than just ppl autobanning in tribunal making these decisions.

So yea.. again.. thanks.
Riot can only do so much to help improve player behavior; ultimately, it comes down to players like you Archøn. Thanks for making the effort!

PS. There's a reason its a BA and not a BS
There are entire fields of Psychology that net you a BS instead of a BA. For example, many neuroscientists are actually in the "Psychology" departments even though they get a MS and PhD instead of a MA and PhD.
